Beautiful Creatures

495Every morning, I take the dog out to do his business. There are small grass patches with trees, flowers, bushes and things outside of my home. My dog, Bubba, is very particular about where he decides to go. This morning, I laughed at him as he raced from one patch to the next, sniffing for the perfect spot. Finally, he could hold it no longer and went wherever he landed.

Bubba always takes his time. While he does his business, I spy on all of the little critters scurrying about. There are squirrels, birds, snails and bugs (some I’ve never seen before). I love to spot them and say, “Good morning. I see you.”

Today, I spotted two lovely creatures. Their smiles full of chubby baby cheeks and their hair wild from a night’s sleep filled with dreams. They glowed like the sun, happy to awake and welcome the day.

The two little girls peeked through the blinds of our windows. They asked, “Can you see me?”

I nodded, yes.

“Can you hear me?”

I nodded again.

“Hi!” They shouted.

I waved a hand.

“I love you!” They shouted.

I mouthed the words, I love you too.

I stood still and categorized the moment into my memory file, “Always Remember.”

My daughters are the most beautiful creatures I’ve discovered. I love this journey of finding them, countlessly, for the rest of our lives.

My little angels, see me, not just as their mother, but as someone they like to know. And that makes me feel like the most special creature of all.

I think that’s why I love spotting them, the tiny ones, that are constantly overlooked. I want them to know they are seen. Their presence matters. And in doing so, I remind myself, that I matter too.

Have a lovely day my friends.
